In the Zambrero mid game wrap up of Round 14 we’re having a look at two things:
- The mighty 2nd grade game v Penrith at Howell Oval today
- The 6th wicket between Harjas Singh and Matt Day.
After a difficult start Mat Newton and Harjas Singh spent time to consolidating the innings to take the score to 5/99 after floundering at 4/29 within the first hour.
After lunch boom youngster Harjas Singh and Skipper Matt Day combined to form a record 6th wicket partnership, both eclipsing the 100 run mark, with Day finally being dismissed for 154 off only 151 balls bringing a close to a new record partnership for the 6th wicket in both second grade and in all grades of 269. This is also the clubs biggest partnership in any grade eclipsing the 261 from Matt Foster and Grant Crompton v Hawkesbury and 259 Daniel Jackson /Daniel Lennox also against Hawkesbury .
Harjas Singh scored a 147 and in the process passed 1000 runs in a season now becoming only the third player to do so in our 19 year history .
Other 1000 run players included:
Mark Atkinson -1068
Jordan Gauci – 1180
With another round to follow, this may be the most successful year by any batter.
More wrap ups will follow
