Blacktown Warriors would like to announce the appointment of Daya Singh as first grade captain for season 2017/18, Daya has played all his grade cricket with the Warriors initially starting as a 13 year old Green Shield player . Daya progressed through the grades to the Poidevin Shield team and then to First Grade as a small but fiery fast bowler who took 7 for 19 in his debut first grade match which helped the team to an outright win over the very strong Sutherland team. Since this time Daya has been in many representative squads including NSW under aged squads and the Futures League. This announcement coincides with the bright future we see for Daya and the club in the coming years. Daya has had the advantage of learning his craft under the tutelage of that Sydney Premier Cricket legend Tony Clark, Tony has supported Daya throughout his career and helped prepare him for his new role leading the Warriors first grade team.

The Warriors also are very proud to announce Tony Clark as the Second grade captain, Tony has just stood down from first grade after more than 300 games as a first grade captain in a career that has so far spanned 35 years since his first grade year in thec1982 Green Shield team resulting in him being the most capped grade player in history. The Warriors club thank Tony for the sensational service he has given first grade and the club both on the field and off the field over the last eight years. Tony is a true legend and his record is unmatched in Premier Cricket, he has played over 620 grade games taking 943 wickets and scoring 11,727 runs. This remarkable career is not finished and Tony has pledged to help prepare and nurture many young players coming through the Warriors cricket pathway. Western Sydney is the fastest growing cricket development area in Australia and we are very lucky to have a player, coach and mentor like Tony Clark to help guide the careers of our future cricket players.
